This all began about three or four weeks ago.Įach time, the iPhone user has no idea anything has happened, and I have no access to the iPhone itself, so all I have is my limited ability to infer, and my question here focuses on what would cause a sending server to contiue to send data when the client device is no longer present. This can contiue for many hours until I reboot the router, which solves the problem until the same or some other iPhone leaves the office a day or two later, and the problem reoccurs.

Very shortly thereafter, my router is being completely flooded with packets from a public Apple server (identified as Apple by reverse DNS) directed at the no-longer-present iPhone, to the point that nobody has internet access. Scenario: any of a number of iPhone users leaves the office with an iPhone. I am not trying to write a new program I am trying to troubleshoot a problem and need some help understanding application-level connection control. Question here for anyone familiar with programming applications that push files to client devices in response to client requests.
